Just confirming, for the logic in the next block (GitHub won't let me comment there), removing the eventTime doesn't impact the JND logic that's using root.eventTimes right?

I think the idea was that longer-term, the proper way to implement this is unmount animation (which we don't have an API for). That doesn't require you to precalculate the time and would let the spinner itself decide how much it wants to stay visible before being removed. E.g. a full spin.

Now that we've removed support for
timeoutMs, there are some leftover parts of the implementation that are no longer needed.This doesn't change any behavior,¹ just cleans stuff up.
¹ Except the first commit which removes support for
busyDelayMs, but that's an obscure feature we don't actually use anywhere. Didn't feel like opening a separate PR.
