TLDR

This PR updates several internal utility model aliases to use Gemini 3 models instead of Gemini 2.5. This includes loop detection, web search, and web fetch tools.

Dive Deeper

  • Added a new internal base alias gemini-3-flash-base pointing to gemini-3-flash-preview.
  • Transitioned web-search, web-fetch, and web-fetch-fallback to use Gemini 3 Flash.
  • Updated the tiered loop detection system to use Gemini 3 models: gemini-3-flash-preview for the initial check and gemini-3-pro-preview for the double-check.
  • This alignment ensures that background utilities leverage the latest model generation while the project transitions to Gemini 3.

Reviewer Test Plan

Reviewers can verify the change by inspecting the packages/core/src/config/defaultModelConfigs.ts file and ensuring the aliases point to the correct Gemini 3 preview models. To exercise the changes, one can run the CLI with debug logging enabled and perform actions that trigger these utilities (e.g., a search query or a long conversation that might trigger loop detection).
