rsc_lookup steals the passed-in memory to avoid doing an allocation of its own, so we can't just pass in a pointer to memory that someone else is using. If we really want to avoid allocation there then maybe we should preallocate somwhere, or reference count these handles. For now we should revert. Prior to commit c0371da ("put iov_iter into msghdr") in v3.19, there was no check that the iovec contained enough bytes for an ICMP header, and the read loop would walk across neighboring stack contents. Since the iov_iter conversion, bad arguments are noticed, but the returned error is EFAULT. Returning EINVAL is a clearer error and also solves the problem prior to v3.19. commit 2474623 upstream. When a process runs out of stack the parisc kernel wrongly faults with SIGBUS instead of the expected SIGSEGV signal. This example shows how the kernel faults: do_page_fault() command='a.out' type=15 address=0xfaac2000 in libc-2.24.so[f8308000+16c000] trap lkl#15: Data TLB miss fault, vm_start = 0xfa2c2000, vm_end = 0xfaac2000 The vma->vm_end value is the first address which does not belong to the vma, so adjust the check to include vma->vm_end to the range for which to send the SIGSEGV signal. drv->cpumask defaults to cpu_possible_mask in __cpuidle_driver_init(). On PowerNV platform cpu_present could be less than cpu_possible in cases where firmware detects the cpu, but it is not available to the OS. When CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU=n, such cpus are not hotplugable at runtime and hence we skip creating cpu_device. This breaks cpuidle on powernv where register_cpu() is not called for cpus in cpu_possible_mask that cannot be hot-added at runtime. I got several memory leak reports from Asan with a simple command. It was because VDSO is not released due to the refcount. Calling btrfs_qgroup_reserve_meta_prealloc from btrfs_delayed_inode_reserve_metadata can result in flushing delalloc while holding a transaction and delayed node locks. This is deadlock prone. In the past multiple commits: * ae5e070 ("btrfs: qgroup: don't try to wait flushing if we're already holding a transaction") * 6f23277 ("btrfs: qgroup: don't commit transaction when we already hold the handle") Tried to solve various aspects of this but this was always a whack-a-mole game. Unfortunately those 2 fixes don't solve a deadlock scenario involving btrfs_delayed_node::mutex. This patch achieves it by calling qgroup_reserve_meta directly which will either succeed without flushing or will fail and return -EDQUOT. In the latter case that return value is going to be propagated to btrfs_dirty_inode which will fallback to start a new transaction. That's fine as the majority of time we expect the inode will have BTRFS_DELAYED_NODE_INODE_DIRTY flag set which will result in directly copying the in-memory state.
