I have just tested the binding with jar provided by @mccaffm in https://github.com/openhab/openhab2-addons/issues/754.

Works like a charm. Time to merge ?

Thanks @mccaffm

Had a quick look at this one just because I've been working with the rfxcom code recently. Functionally, changes look good, I would however adjust the coding style to keep things consistent.

I think it would make sense for the constant name to match the thing type id, so we should change this to THING_TYPE_ENERGY (across the board), or stick with the energyusage id and change the xml file to match. I don't mind which.

Is there a reason for de-pluralising this channel? It doesn't seem to make any functional difference, and it seems more natural to me to say amphours than amphour. Same comment applies to all the de-pluralisations, I'd be happier if the pull request changed instantamp to instantamps instead, as that is currently inconsistent throughout the plugin.

no particular reason other than i knew which bits i had had to change by looking at the code quickly (i.e. if singular i had changed it), ive updated the PR and have made it all singular, having only just spotted this. if you really want it converting back to multiples it can be done, but as you say no functionality is lost either way.

Thanks James I wouldn’t disagree, I was just glad to get it working ☺ Being a lazy typer id rather go down the ENERGY route rather than ENERGYUSAGE. Though firstly I will have to find out how to amend a PR…

I had to learn this recently.

First, amend the master commit instead of making new ones so that there
aren't lots of little commits in one PR, which people don't like.
git commit --amend

Then you need to force push to github:
git push -f

When you do that, github will automatically update the pull request based
on the new branch, and re-run the builds for you as well.

Changes look good to me, expect that your commit message now only mentions the change in type id and nothing else, so you should probably amend that.

Also, I think the last line of the commit needs to look like (with your details obviously):

* tutorial: Fix description of sitemap 'type' (openhab#1204)

In the tutorial, the generic sitemap description says that ItemType has
to be the same as the type defined in default.items.
Looking at
https://www.openhab.org/docs/configuration/items.html#type and
https://www.openhab.org/docs/configuration/sitemaps.html#element-types
this is incorrect as they take different values.
The example is even mislading as `Switch` is one of the only types which
is common between items and sitemaps. Might be better to describe
`Default` instead.

Hopefully this will lower the hurdle for people to submit documentation contributions. I know from myself that I didn't submit various documentation improvements, because I didn't know git and thought it would be a much more involved process.
Ideally there would be a separate documentation section, but submitting this under the development contribution page for now (as per discussion with @Confectrician in openhab/openhab-docs#1179 (comment)).

I originally suggested this as an update to the openHAB Amazon Alexa Smart Home Skill documentaion, but it fits better here, then other integrations using metadata (e.g. HomeKit or Google Assistant) could refer to it as well.
