Hello, I have kernel panic at boot with the last commit (well the commit just before).
http://files.first-world.info/temp/DSC_0017.JPG
Thanks to fix it.

Can you be more specific.
Does this happen with a pre-built kernel, or are you building with source. If you are building from source, is it unmodified and using the bcmrpi_defconfig file?
Can you point at the first git hash that produces the problem?

I'm building from source. Same config like the previous build (with this config it work).
Now some branch is out, I will try change the branch.

Perhaps you have some USB device connected that the 2.94 driver doesn't like. Can you try booting with no USB devices attached.
Perhaps you have locally changed options in .config which 2.94 doesn't like. Can you test official build of kernel.img first? Then test latest source with bcmrpi_defconfig. Then apply your local changes to .config and note which one causes panic.

Looks like it's going wrong very early on, during driver init, maybe due to
exhaustion of the coherent memory pool. Perhaps you have something enabled
by your config which is consuming coherent memory?

I try without ANY (0) device connect.
Bad luke, sd card broken...

I didn't really understand the last comment. Are you saying the problem was a bad sdcard, and it's now fixed?
Or are you still having the problem?

@alphaonex86

I have remplaced the sd card. With the last git + official .config it work, I close the bug.

Do you have a diff from your failing against the official config. I have same problem with my own config and it is no sd-card issue.

The kernel crash very early but i cannot really see why. It scrolls to fast, i think i have to add serial console to get a log.

Have found it. The kernel doesn't like SLUB memory management. (Chris Boot's patchset has worked with SLUB)

I have not really tested if the dwc_otg update trigger the problem but it crash at the initalisation so i think so. I will use SLAB for now.

commit 117aad1 upstream.

Isolated balloon pages can wrongly end up in LRU lists when
migrate_pages() finishes its round without draining all the isolated
page list.

The same issue can happen when reclaim_clean_pages_from_list() tries to
reclaim pages from an isolated page list, before migration, in the CMA
path. Such balloon page leak opens a race window against LRU lists
shrinkers that leads us to the following kernel panic:

The police action is using its own code to initialize tcf hash
info, which makes us to forgot to initialize a->hinfo correctly.
Fix this by calling the helper function tcf_hash_create() directly.

let's avoid the call and just fall back to ht->p.min_size (which should
never be smaller than HASH_MIN_SIZE).

ARM64: Fix build break for RTL8187/RTL8192CU wifi

These drivers use an ASM function from the base
system to compute the ipv6 checksum. These functions
are not available on ARM64, probably because nobody
has bother to write them. The base system does have
a generic "C" version, so a simple fix is to include
the header to use the generic version on ARM64 only.

A longer term solution would be to submit the necessary

pppoe_rcv() needs to look back at the Ethernet header in order to
lookup the PPPoE session. Therefore we need to ensure that the mac
header is big enough to contain an Ethernet header. Otherwise
eth_hdr(skb)->h_source might access invalid data.

The ipv4 side of the issue is apparently there since the ipv4 over ipv6

ARM64: Fix build break for RTL8187/RTL8192CU wifi

These drivers use an ASM function from the base
system to compute the ipv6 checksum. These functions
are not available on ARM64, probably because nobody
has bother to write them. The base system does have
a generic "C" version, so a simple fix is to include
the header to use the generic version on ARM64 only.

A longer term solution would be to submit the necessary
ASM function to the upstream source.

With this change, these drivers now compile without
any errors on ARM64.

This change addresses the issue adding the needed check before
accessing the inner header.

The ipv4 side of the issue is apparently there since the ipv4 over ipv6
initial support, and the ipv6 side predates git history.

With this change, these drivers now compile without
any errors on ARM64.

cpuinfo_cur_freq gets current CPU frequency as detected by hardware
while scaling_cur_freq last known CPU frequency. Some platforms may not
allow checking the CPU frequency of an offline CPU or the associated
resources may have been released via cpufreq_exit when the CPU gets
offlined, in which case the policy would have been invalidated already.
If we attempt to get current frequency from the hardware, it may result
in hang or crash.

For example on Juno, I see:

Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000188

In tipc_nl_compat_recv(), when the len variable returned by
nlmsg_attrlen() is 0, the message is still treated as a valid one,
which is obviously unresonable. When len is zero, it means the
message not only doesn't contain any valid TLV payload, but also
TLV header is not included. Under this stituation, tlv_type field
in TLV header is still accessed in tipc_nl_compat_dumpit() or
tipc_nl_compat_doit(), but the field space is obviously illegal.
Of course, it is not initialized.

[ Upstream commit 2f66196 ]

cpuinfo_cur_freq gets current CPU frequency as detected by hardware
while scaling_cur_freq last known CPU frequency.

Turns out that the program rejection from e411901 ("bpf: allow for tailcalls
in BPF subprograms for x64 JIT") is buggy since env->prog->aux->tail_call_reachable
is never true. Commit ebf7d1f ("bpf, x64: rework pro/epilogue and tailcall
handling in JIT") added a tracker into check_max_stack_depth() which propagates
the tail_call_reachable condition throughout the subprograms. This info is then
assigned to the subprogram's func[i]->aux->tail_call_reachable. However, in the
case of the rejection check upon JIT failure, env->prog->aux->tail_call_reachable
is used. func[0]->aux->tail_call_reachable which represents the main program's
information did not propagate this to the outer env->prog->aux, though. Add this
propagation into check_max_stack_depth() where it needs to belong so that the
check can be done reliably.

During testing of f263a81 ("bpf: Track subprog poke descriptors correctly

jit_subprogs() fails and tries to clean up the program to be run under the
interpreter, we ran into the following freeze:

commit a9685b4 upstream.

If open_cached_dir() encounters an error parsing the lease from the
server, the error handling may race with receiving a lease break,
resulting in open_cached_dir() freeing the cfid while the queued work is
pending.

Update open_cached_dir() to drop refs rather than directly freeing the
cfid.

Have cached_dir_lease_break(), cfids_laundromat_worker(), and
invalidate_all_cached_dirs() clear has_lease immediately while still
holding cfids->cfid_list_lock, and then use this to also simplify the
reference counting in cfids_laundromat_worker() and
invalidate_all_cached_dirs().

Fixes this KASAN splat (which manually injects an error and lease break
in open_cached_dir()):

popcornmix pushed a commit that referenced this issue Dec 10, 2024
commit a9685b4 upstream.

If open_cached_dir() encounters an error parsing the lease from the
server, the error handling may race with receiving a lease break,
resulting in open_cached_dir() freeing the cfid while the queued work is
pending.

Update open_cached_dir() to drop refs rather than directly freeing the
cfid.

Have cached_dir_lease_break(), cfids_laundromat_worker(), and
invalidate_all_cached_dirs() clear has_lease immediately while still
holding cfids->cfid_list_lock, and then use this to also simplify the
reference counting in cfids_laundromat_worker() and
invalidate_all_cached_dirs().

Fixes this KASAN splat (which manually injects an error and lease break
in open_cached_dir()):
