  • Joint session with Web Authentication (scheduled for Tuesday afternoon 4:30-6pm):
    • Survey of evolving regulatory requirements related to authentication and payments.
    • How emerging APIs might work together to give 2FA.
    • The FIDO Financial Services Special Interest Group has been working on a set of requirements on passkeys for payments. They previewed a draft of the requirements at the 25 July Web Payment Security IG meeting.
    • Related to that, are there any discussions happening around WebAuthn related to policies (cf. UAF policies)?
    • There has been some discussion about new errors codes within the WebAuthn WG. The Web Payments WG has had analogous discussions about error codes in SPC. Our goal is to enable different parties to respond appropriately to errors so that users are not confused during a payment experience.
    • The SPK extension was dropped. Are there any other extensions (e.g., UVI and UVM) that the group expects to remove from L3?
    • We would also like to get an update on Simple Transaction Authorization Extension (txAuthSimple) and its relevance to SPC.
    • During other parts of the Web Payments WG we are likely to hear some pilot results from using SPC (or Web Authn) during checkouts, and if we have any useful news, we’ll be sure to share it with the WebAuthn WG.
    • We always like to hear “the latest from the WebAuthn WG.” It would be great to spend a few minutes on what the latest discussions are, anticipated changes, and the group’s plans for the next year (until TPAC 2025).
    • Can we have more regular updates and facilitate communication about needs and requirements?
