Troubleshooting Tips

- Open Network Management from the System Tray in the lower right corner (you may need to click the up arrow to display the Network Management icon) and check Enable networking.
- In the KDE Start menu go to Applications > System > Control Center.
- If needed, enter root password:
geoportal
. - Under Network Devices, open Network Settings.
- In the Network Settings window, under the Global Options tab, enable User controlled with NetworkManager.
- Click OK to save the changes and close the window.
- Reopen Network Management to manage your network connections.
- If using the LiveDVD in a virtual machine (VM) first.
- Within the virtual machine software, right-click the VM and choose settings.
- Go to the Network (or Network Adapter) settings and change the network connection from NAT to Bridged.
- This will make your organization's network view the VM as a new and completely independent computer, so you may need to check with your IT department before doing this.
- Boot up the LiveDVD directly or in a VM.
- Click the Restore Window box in the top right of the browser to un-maximize it.
- Click the terminal icon on the desktop to open the terminal.
- Type
gnome-network-properties
into the terminal and press enter. - Edit the proxy configuration according to your network's requirements.
- Close the Network Proxy Preferences window.
- Back in the terminal restart the network by entering the following:
sudo /etc/init.d/networking stop
- enter
geoportal
for the password. sudo /etc/init.d/networking start
- Back in the Web browser, reload the webpage.
