Meeting Minutes

• Node Media Discussion
  • Reversing the node media relationship.
  • DIG discussed the various standards like OAIS and PCDM. This breaks these models so we need to have a standards-based discussion.
  • Seth: instead of switching directionality, discard nodes and use media like it’s intended.
  • Rosie: likes the idea of making media the primary entity of preservation and stuff. Media would have so much metadata on it it would be beneficial.
  • Amy: how does this fit with the bigger changes happening through the roadmap? How would this affect people’s current sites?
  • Moving to media as the center of description would be a massive change for existing sites; reversing the relationship would be a significant but much smaller change–a major version bump.
  • Luke re IPTs: Restrictions from PCDM on the data model can be enforced as stand alone modules if they are are found to be necessary
    • E.g. PCDM does not allow files to belong to multiple entities
    • The mapping of content types and fields in Drupal to PCDM types and relationships in RDF will remain primarily in config. Some mappings will be defined in config as we will be moving away from the current model in which the PCDM fileOf relationship has a direct analogy in Drupal.
    • Restrictions from PCDM on the data model can be enforced as stand alone modules if they are are found to be necessary
    • E.g. PCDM does not allow files to belong to multiple entities
  • Amy: concerns about changes right now with the most recent migration and change to Drupal 10. When is the best time to work on this problem?
  • Seth: Need to determine the primary vision and goals first and then move forward with the technical side.
  • Rosie to give Kirsta the request to see something about this written up that TAG can react to. Can plan to have this as part of an Open Meeting so the community can respond.
