Ombi is a powerful program that enables a PLEX Server Owner the ability to enable themselves and users to request TV Shows and Movies. It has powerful built-in notification managers which can reach users through email, slack, and other third party programs. The main reason to deploy this program regardless is that users can conduct searches without providing direct access to programs such as Radarr and Sonarr. Finally, version 3 of Ombi is very improved and is very stable for daily use!

Manual Configuration:

  1. Access Ombi through your preferred method. Your first connection will guide you through a wizard. Click Next
  2. Select your media server of choice; in our case it will be Plex (and by all means, use Emby if you do).
  3. Input your PLEX.tv login details and Click Request Token.
  4. You will then be asked if you wish to make your PLEX account the admin account for Ombi. This is the suggested choice. If not, you will be asked to create an Ombi Admin Account!
  5. That's it for the initial wizard!

Configuration Settings

  1. Their are quite a few settings that can be configured, this guide won't explain them all only the necessary settings so please feel free to have a poke around. Hit the drop down for "Configuration" and then select "User Importer".
  2. Then configure how you would like your users to be set up, generally it's best to enable "Import Plex Users", this will automatically create an account in Ombi for each of your Plex users. Configure the default roles for the users as well, "Request Movie" & "Request TV" are generally a must, the auto approve options for each are up to you. If you'd like to review each persons request first then leave these off, if you are happy for them to request without your intervention then enable them. Once finished configuring your settings then hit "Run Importer" and then "Save".
  3. On the settings page hit the drop down for "Configuration" and then select "Authentication".
  4. Here you can specify if you want your plex users to be able to login with only their username, password not required. NOTE: Even if this option is enabled, any admin accounts will still be forced to type their password.

Media Server Settings

  1. On the settings page hit the drop down for "Media Server" and then select "Plex".
  2. The only things you need to do here is change the "Hostname or IP" to 172.17.0.1, ensure the port is 32400, click "Load Libraries" ensure your libraries from Plex populate and then finally click "Test Connectivity" to ensure everything is correct.
