1. Intro

Speedtest is a dead simple way of testing your server's bandwidth connection speeds. It simply utilizes HTML5, which means that users do not have to plug or install anything special for this to work. Just ensure to have a modern browser.

3. Access Information

Protocol Address Notes
traefik** speedtest:8223 Only for Internal App-to-App Communication
https speedtest.domain.com Traefik must be Deployed; Remote Servers
http domain.com:8223 Poor Security Practice - Stop with PTS Port Guard
http ipv4:8223 Ideal Only for Local Servers

4. Case Use

Speedtest measures the speeds between your active server and the computer that it's being accessed from. This does not measure your traditional max speeds. This is useful to test how fast the connection is between yourself and the server.

If your server is actively utilizing bandwidth (i.e. 9 users watching Plex, SABNZBD is downloading, and etc); the results will not be accurate. The provided results will aid a user's understanding in how fast your connection is between the server and client computer through real-time means.

5. Summary

Speedtest is one of the most useful apps to provide you a simple sanity check in the attempts of testing your bandwidth speeds!
