This pull request refines the interaction model for the Gemini CLI agent by making the instructions for activating specialized skills more concise and direct. The change aims to improve clarity and efficiency in how users are guided to utilize agent capabilities, ensuring a smoother and more intuitive experience. The updated prompt behavior is validated through new and existing test infrastructure.

Highlights

  • Prompt Verbiage Update: The system prompt verbiage for activating specialized skills has been made more direct by changing 'you can call the' to 'call the'.
  • New Test Case: A new test case was added to packages/core/src/core/prompts.test.ts to specifically verify the updated skill activation verbiage for preview models.
  • Snapshot Updates: Vitest snapshots in packages/core/src/core/__snapshots__/prompts.test.ts.snap were updated to reflect the changes in the system prompt.
  • Legacy Snippets Unchanged: Legacy snippets (snippets.legacy.ts) were intentionally left unmodified to preserve existing prompting behavior for older models.

Code Review

This pull request updates the system prompt verbiage for specialized skills to be more direct, changing 'you can call the' to 'call the'. The change is well-implemented, with a new test case and snapshot to verify the updated verbiage for preview models. The distinction between legacy and preview model prompts is handled correctly. The changes are clear and improve the prompt's directness. I have no issues to report.
