Travel

Cambridge is not far from London (50 minutes from Kings Cross station). The closest airport is London Stansted (STN). The other London airports are Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Luton (LTN), and London City (LCY). Trains from mainland Europe arrive at St Pancras station, which is right next to Kings Cross station.

Links for public transport are given below. It is possible but not necessary to buy train tickets in advance. It is not possible to buy Tube tickets in advance. It is advisable but not necessary to buy coach tickets in advance.

From Stansted, you can take the train (half an hour).

From Heathrow, you can take the Tube (Piccadilly line) to Kings Cross, and then the train to Cambridge (2 hours in total). Alternatively, there is also a direct coach (2.5 or 3 hours).

From Gatwick, you can take the train to Victoria, then the Tube (Victoria line) to Kings Cross, and then the train to Cambridge (2 hours in total). Alternatively, there is also a direct coach (4 hours). If you are arriving on a weekday, there is also a direct train to Cambridge (2 hours).

From Luton, you can take a coach to Cambridge (2 hours).

From London City, you can take the Tube to Kings Cross (Dockland Light Railway to Bank, then the Northern line), and then the train to Cambridge (1 hour 40 in total).

Accommodation

The University and the City Council maintain lists of accommodation options. Accommodation can also be found on SpeedyBooker, including rooms offered by several of the Colleges.

(I reserved the Institute of Astronomy's "Gardener's Cottage", but these rooms are no longer available -- see email dated 31 May.)

Getting Around

It's about a 25-minute walk from the summit venue to the centre of town. There is a limited bus network, with bus routes U(niversal) and Citi4 stopping near the venue. Several places rent bikes.

Registration Fee

The fee for the summit is £80 per person, including the conference dinner, and lunch on four days (which excludes Wednesday, when we will go to foodPark). This has been graciously subsidised by a research grant from Ann Copestake.
