PR Roundup

MIG updates

We had settled on the idea that with install profiles, we go hands-off after a site is installed.

Some smaller shops will want ongoing updates to be applied automatically.Features gives you a little leeway but it only works on single fields and not e.g. form display.

Updating RDF mapping is needed to make it easier for site builders to customize their site.

We may use a model like Lightning that lets a user decide to run an update's feature changes or not.

The hardest theoretical part would be a large-scale field migration.

Drupal 8 has been a little more difficult than expected to share customizations.

There is a big gap between using Repository Item as is and building your own custom types.

Seth Proposed that the way forward would be to let users prune down the forms from Repository Item since that's easier than building something up from scratch.

A content type cloner was discussed, or some kind of wizard that would build up content types interactively.

Drupal does not support the kind of metadata structures that metadata people expect to be able to work in.

Next step is to make sure nothing depends on islandora_defaults so the module can be disabled after install.
