Notes

  1. ISLE Sprint -- November 2nd to 13th with the goal of getting the ISLE out there. This can currently make demo, dev, and the prod. Encouraging community members to sign up to help with the various tasks. The doodle poll for the planning meeting - to set up the scope that the developers are going to have to do. It is challenging to select which changes should be developed. The google document for this is "ISLE-8 Project Report" https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GLi6DzgjC_RMVuyIhZHjt1FyTCae8vaw8eZx8DBYrbc/edit
    1. Sign Up Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s5GCs9zrJsXevOulyRehpC-wdn4ShOVvEeaHDN_A2eo/edit?usp=sharing
    2. Doodle poll for planning meeting: https://doodle.com/poll/k5t98vr8dw9eug5c
  2. Any updates on Travis? Rosie asked does Travis work? https://travis-ci.org/github/rosiel/islandora/builds/737786622 fingers-crossed. There are some pull requests from Danny and Jared and these could break Travis again. As long as Travis comes up with a big red "X", it is more difficult to get contributions committed. Big thanks for Rosie, Adam and others for their work on this.
  3. Loosening push access to https://github.com/Islandora/documentation -- The goal is to make it easier for non-committers to push documentation. A separate git repository that has push access would make this easier. The old way that I7 WIKI was editable made it pretty easy. It seems prohibitive that a change to documentation on the actual code would require a rebuild of the repo with Travis. The repo would require a policy change that would need approved by the ICC.
  4. Issue Roundup
    1. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/issues/1640 "What are the most basic requirements for running ISLE? #1640". We need more eyes on this since there are a lot of requirements and some may be already installed on our current development machines -- without a clean machine, it is hard to separate out whether or not it works because of the previously installed libraries and software.
  5. PR Roundup
    1. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/pull/1648 "Update docker-compose.md #1648" - documentation change to recommend more than 4GB for a development environment. Merged during the meeting! Yay!
    2. https://github.com/Islandora/documentation/pull/1643 "Update iiif.md #1643" -- another documentation change to remove just a single space from the iiif.md file.
    3. https://github.com/Islandora-Devops/isle-dc/pull/123 "Secrets #123" -- Danny has several other changes that are based off of this. This uses "Secrets" in ISLE. When you run docker containers, you have to get stuff from your machine into the container, but the mechanism that gets the file in there is completely unencrypted, so the configuration manager will allow those files to be pushed into the containers as an encrypted file. This also centralizes all of the password values into a single location. It would be great to get some more people to look at this before it gets merged.
    4. https://github.com/Islandora-Devops/isle-buildkit/pull/80 "Using secrets #80"
    5. https://github.com/Islandora-Devops/ansible-role-fits/pull/7 "Remove redundant Drupal module download. #7" - updates the version dependency for islandora FITS so that the Ansible build will work. This should be good to be run and merged now. Eli volunteered to test this out.

After a productive call with some extra time remaining, Danny asked if there was anything else going on. Eli mentioned the challenging requirement at ASU where the Metadata team needs support for MODS xml for ingest and as an export. Eli, Adam, Seth, and Danny discussed several possible approaches including twig and straight PHP. Rosie indicated that the Metadata interest group has discussed this and would recommend that any MODS that is stored would be clearly labeled as "original source metadata" so that it is clear that it is not how the metadata should be edited -- there is no hook in the code to update a node field if the MODS changes.
