Minutes

Old Business

New Business

  • Draft Islandora Foundation Mission Statement open for comments for a month or so. Final draft will go the AGM this summer for a vote
  • Multisites Interest Group?
    • The CC would really like to see this formed. First step is to seek some convenors. Wilhelmina is on board. Bryan will help. Reaching out to some other multisite experts from the community.

Interest Group Updates

  • Metadata IG (Rosie)
    • Big decision: minting name entities by default. The default mapping will create a new taxonomy term for every name in your incoming metadata. Normalizing ahead of time will be encouraged but not enforced. Instructions on using OpenRefine to handle this will be provided. BUT: this is not baked in. It's a default optional config.
  • IR interest group (Bryan) - Nothing to report
  • Security Interest Group (Don R) - Making some changes to try to get more people involved for the next meeting (March)
  • ISLE Interest Group (Martha)
    • Ben Rosner is transitioning out as lead maintainer; Bethany Seeger is transitioning in.
    • Four workshops coming up:
      • Upcoming Islandora for All: ISLE Workshop! Islandoracon 2019 on October 7 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

      • Upcoming Islandora for All: ISLE Workshop! OPEN REPOSITORIES 2019 on June 10 in Hamburg, Germany

      • Upcoming Islandora for All: ISLE Workshop! NERCOMP Regional Meeting on May 22, 2019 at Union College in Schenectady, NY
      •
Upcoming Islandora for All: ISLE Workshop! 2019 Code4Lib (annual conference), San Jose, CA

CLAW

UTSC has made us a pdf viewer and audio/video derivatives, which are amazing. Tested and merged. Documentation sprint is coming and will be organized around a spreadsheet

Islandora Camps

  • iCampEU
    • CFP is closing. Good response, so no extension.
    • Instructors selected; announcement next week
  • Islandoracon

Round Table

  • Bryan: FSU got a grant for a collection on disabilities. After much debate, they are going with Islandora 8. Will look to UPEI's Islandora 8 grant project for opportunities to collaborate. Also working with the paragraphs module to add additional functions to Islandora 8. Stands in for Field Collections from Drupal 7.
  • David: Fedora Camp coming up in May at Emery. Big design meeting coming up at the end of the month (including Danny) for the next release. Looking for use cases ahead of the meeting. Or, review the ones that are already up there.
  • Don: UTK has projects to improve 7 and start helping in 8. Working on the PR for performance improvements in Large Image.
  • Jonathan: Wants in on the Multisite Interest Group
  • Lydia: FLVC is working on a project to use the GUI and shunt off zip loads to the offline bath ingest queue.
  • Marcus: Nat is continuing to work on Islandora 8. Also reviewing supported modules to get in bug fixes and improvements, particularly the Oral Histories SP. Reviewing preservation practices, including core modules vs. 'awesome' modules. WIll report on progress.
  • Martha: ICG has a new Code of Conduct
  • Rosie: Island Voices is moving to the Oral Histories Solution Pack, with a soft launch. CANARIE funded RDM project is getting close to first sprint. Integrating Orchid. Checksum Checking.
